Ms. Duffy received her BA in the Science of Nursing from City University of New York. Throughout her career in Nursing, she has enjoyed a broad field of practice as an Administrator and clinician. Clinical areas of practice include past certifications in both Critical Care and Medical Surgical Nursing, geriatric outreach programs and traumatic brain injury care.
She found her passion for patient education and advocacy while working for the Veteran’s Administration in Ann Arbor. Working in the Cardia Thoracic Intensive Care, she saw a myriad of ways poverty and accessibility to care affected outcomes and long-term health. She worked to educate and empower patients in the pursuit of improved health.
This experience drove her to find a way to assist those in need. She spent 6 years on the Board of LACASA, Livingston County’s sexual assault and domestic violence shelter. We provided support, advocacy, community education programs and housing to victims and their families. During those 6 years, she helped successfully implemented the SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) program expanding our efforts in providing comprehensive clinical care and legal representations to victims.
